What are the concerns at the heart of China's industrial policy? How will it address overcapacity? Why do experts believe China is ahead of the world in cross-industry deployment of AI?

China's industrial policy will determine whether the country can further its capabilities in industries critical to the future of the global economy, such as AI and critical minerals, and whether it can tackle the challenge of overcapacity. Regarding AI, there are conflicting opinions from both outside and within China on whether it can truly compete with the US. This week, The Economist highlighted how China's already broad deployment of AI places it in a better position to capitalize on future breakthroughs, regardless of whether they occur in the US, China or anywhere else.

CCBC is pleased to collaborate with CBBC, which will host a briefing to address the answers and provide an overview of China's macro industrial policy, what to expect next, and the deployment of AI in China, provided by Tom Hancock.

Tom is an editorial lead of China Policy Global Insight, a monthly report series on China's industrial development. Tom is former senior China economy reporter at Bloomberg News based in Hong Kong and Brussels, and previously China consumer reporter for the Financial Times in Shanghai.

CP Global Insight will present highlights from its latest reports on China's industrial policy framework and the deployment of AI, which offers overviews of China's policies and realistic assessments of progress in key industrial areas.

What to expect from the briefing:

ยท China's industrial policy update;

ยท What to expect after Made in China 2025;

ยท Deployment of AI in China;

ยท How AI will shape the industrial landscape in the future

The briefing is jointly organised by CBBC and Canadian China Business Council, it's complimentary for members and chargeable for non-members.
