Kathleen BlueSky is Cree and Anishinaabe Ikwe, a mother of three, and entrepreneur. She comes from the Nisichawayasihk Cree Nation and Minegoziibe Anishinaabe First Nation, and holds a Master's degree in Business Administration from the Asper School of Business at the University of Manitoba. She is also Owner of Seven Feathers Consulting.


Ms. BlueSky has devoted her career as an executive leader to advancing the best interests of First Nations in Manitoba with a commitment to holistic well-being, economic independence, and self-governance. She is a champion for growing Indigenous economies by building Indigenous entrepreneurs and organizational leaders.


Ms. BlueSky has served as CEO for the Nisichawayasihk Cree Nation, working with the Nehetho government in advancing their Aski Pumenikewin (Land Code) and NCN Othasowewin (Constitution). She is Co-founder of Wiijii'idiwag Ikwewag (Women Helping Each Other), which secured the first Social Impact Bond in Manitoba in 2019, and is also Vice-Chair of the First Nation Market Housing Fund, a $300-million trust established to support First Nations Home Ownership through capacity development and credit enhancement.


As Interim CEO for the Treaty One Development Corporation (T1DC), Ms. BlueSky is at the forefront of transforming ideas into realities, charting a path of progress for both the organization and the communities it serves. With an extensive background in finance, strategic planning, and business development, Ms. BlueSky takes the lead in providing strategic leadership and direction for T1DC. Her primary focus is raising capital and fostering the growth of businesses within the organization, while staying true to the mission of creating a positive and sustainable impact for the Treaty One First Nations.

Grand Chief Edward John is a Hereditary Chief of Tl'azt'en Nation located on the banks of the Nak'al Bun (Stuart Lake) in Northern B.C. He is an Indigenous leader who has dedicated his life to the pursuit of social and economic justice for Canada's Indigenous people, having worked as a leader in Indigenous politics, business and community development. Grand Chief John has been a lawyer for over 30 years. He holds a B.A. from the University of Victoria (UVIC), an LL.B from the University of British Columbia and Honorary Degrees from UVIC and the University of Northern BC.


Grand Chief John has served in many leadership roles at the local, provincial, national and international levels. He is a long serving elected member of the First Nations Summit political executive, which is mandated to carry out specific tasks related to Aboriginal Title and Rights negotiations with the governments of BC and Canada and other issues of common concern to First Nations in BC. He participated in the development of the Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in September 2007. He served a three-year term as the North American Representative to the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues (January 2011 – December 2013) with a mandate to discuss indigenous issues related to economic and social development, culture, the environment, education, health and human rights.

Jolene Mercer is an Anishinaabe woman born and raised in Treaty One territory and a member of the Peguis First Nation.


Ms. Mercer is Executive Director for Treaty One Nations and was instrumental in the negotiations of the Gaawijijigemangit Agreement (Municipal Development Services Agreement) with the City of Winnipeg and the conversion of Naawi Oodena (former Kapyong Barracks) to reserve land.


Ms. Mercer has over 20 years of experience working with First Nations communities and organizations in areas of governance, health, youth, social innovation, employment, training, and strategic planning. She attended the University of Manitoba, Red River College, and the Coady International Institute at St. Frances Xavier University. Ms. Mercer is a co-founder of Wiijii'idiwag Ikwewag an organization that supports women and families during pregnancy, birth, and beyond. She is passionate about the revitalization of Anishinaabe values and ways of being and brings the teachings of her Knowledge Keepers and Grandmothers into her work to support the empowerment of communities and people.



Ms. Mercer is currently working with the 7 Treaty One Nations on the Treaty One Constitution, governance structure, and the development of Naawi Oodena.

Karen Ogen is CEO of the First Nations LNG Alliance, a society of First Nations in support of responsible liquefied natural gas (LNG) development in Canada, with a priority on the environment and First Nations consultation and engagement.


Ms. Ogen brings extensive experience to her role, having served as elected chief of the Wet'suwet'en First Nation for six years from 2010 to 2016. She was also a council member for the Nation from 1987 to 1990 and again from 2019 to 2022.


She is familiar with the needs of Indigenous communities throughout British Columbia and seeks to increase economic opportunities for First Nations through providing information and education regarding responsible resource development.


While Ms. Ogen recognizes that not all projects will be appropriate for all nations, she hopes to help inspire more First Nations to consider and engage in discussions with industry and government around the possibility of resource opportunities.


Ms. Ogen's academic background is in social work. She achieved her Master's degree from the University of Northern British Columbia in 2007, and graduated from the Indigenous Governance Certificate Program from the University of Victoria in 2010. In August 2022, she successfully completed a Master's degree in Business Administration from Simon Fraser University in the Indigenous Business Leadership program. She is the first in her family and community to attain two Master's degrees.


Ms. Ogen was named one of the "35 Most Influential Women in BC: The power to disrupt" in March 2016, by BC Business Magazine, and was elected for three consecutive years – 2021, 2022 and 2023 – as one of the Business in Vancouver BC 500: The most influential business leaders in British Columbia, in the Resources: Oil and Gas sector.

Mark Quinlan is President and CEO of Newfound Resources located in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador. Newfound Resources, partnering with Makivvik Corporation of Nunavik for the last 20 years, harvests shrimp in eastern and northern Canada with its 80-metre offshore trawler, Newfoundland Victor. The shrimp is processed at sea (graded, cooked, frozen and packaged) and delivered to a Canadian port, where it is distributed throughout the world.

 

Mr. Quinlan grew up in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, where he graduated from Memorial University of Newfoundland with a Bachelor of Commerce degree. After working for several years in western Canada, Mr. Quinlan completed a Master of Business of Administration at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Upon completion of his Master's degree, Mr. Quinlan worked in Yemen for two years as an oil and gas logistics business analysist. However, his love of home brought him back to Newfoundland where he worked for a Danish seafood sales and marketing company, where he grew the Canadian business and promoted Canadian seafood around the world. He has been working with Newfound Resources for the last four years and is proud to manage the top-producing Canadian shrimp trawler last year.

 

His travels for school, work and recreation have brought him to over 40 countries and he looks forward to exploring the world to see many more. Mr. Quinlan has been an active minor hockey coach for 30-plus years and continues to be involved in a number of sports with his three children. He is currently the treasurer for the Council of Marine Professionals Association (COMPASS), an organization developed in 2008 to promote the development of the Canadian marine industry.

Evan Roberts, a dedicated member of the Roseau River Anishinaabe First Nation, is currently serving his first term as Council member for his home community. Councillor Roberts spent his early years rooted in the close-knit community of Roseau Rapids, where he was raised by his grandparents. He later ventured into the City of Winnipeg, Manitoba, to pursue his education at the University of Manitoba with a focus on social services.


Before assuming his role as Councillor, Councillor Roberts played a vital role for 10 years in his community as Roseau River Anishinaabe First Nation's Post-Secondary Coordinator. His work contributed to the educational aspirations for many Roseau River's community members.


Outside of his time public service, Councillor Roberts is a devoted father and husband, embodying his commitment to family and community.

He previously worked with Royal Bank Financial Group developing its Aboriginal Banking program, and was formerly the Provincial Director of Aboriginal Services and a Partner with Meyers Norris Penny. 


Mr. Vickers recently took on the position of Chairman and CEO for NorthernNations Cooperative, a 100% Indigenous Member owned Cooperative that supports the goals of Canada's Indigenous leaders to achieve economic equity in Canada.


He currently holds positions on several boards: NorthernNations Cooperative; Founding member and Co-Chair, Circle of Advisors, Honoring Nations Canada; and External Thought Leader Advisor, Auditor General for British Columbia. Additionally, he was a founding member of the Chinook Program at the University of British Columbia and served on the President's Advisory Council at the University of British Columbia.


Mr. Vickers' award-winning Indigenous/Aboriginal Awareness Sessions have earned him the 1999 End Racism Award by the Province of British Columbia, Distinguished Service Award-Human Rights by the Vancouver Multi-Cultural Society, and a Commendation from the Deputy Commissioner of the RCMP for the Pacific Region. Mr. Vickers was part of a Simon Fraser University delegation to China in May 2000.


Mr. Vickers is the proud father of six children – Matthew, Aliah, Faith, Joshua, Shivan, and Alan – and three grandchildren – Taylor, Violet, and Elaina – and currently resides in Sechelt, B.C., with his beautiful wife Paiman. 费鹰道先生育有六个子女——Matthew、Aliah、Faith、Joshua、Shivan和Alan,以及三个孙辈——Taylor、Violet和Elaina。目前,他与美丽的妻子Paiman居住在不列颠哥伦比亚省锡谢尔特市。他的祖父是海尔楚克人,祖母是钦西安人,曾祖父是海达人,母亲是英国人。

Noah Wahquahboshkuk is Intergovernmental Relations Manager for Treaty One Nation Incorporated. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Haskell Indian Nations University and Master of Business Administration from Baker University. His professional background encompasses commercial and residential construction development, financial and data analytics, federal grant management, program and policy development implementation. Mr. Wahquahboshkuk plans to marshal his business acumen to enhance the effectiveness of Indigenous governments, asserting principles of self-governance and sovereignty.


While staying true to his communities, their traditions and his family, Mr. Wahquahboshkuk plans to continue his work and commitment to provide services to communities and entities across Turtle Island.

Chief Kyra Wilson is serving a four-year term as Chief of Long Plain First Nation. Her passion for social justice and community forms a path to empower, influence and make a difference in people's lives.

 

Along this journey, Chief Wilson graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Social Work. The knowledge and experience she gained throughout university have empowered her to be a fierce advocate for children and families involved with Child and Family Services. These skills have created the opportunity for her to exemplify her knowledge directly through the development of her therapy practice, Ode Counseling. Chief Wilson's blend of confidence, compassion and competence are a skillset that can make a positive impact on all First Nation communities across Turtle Island.

Tony Wright is a marine biologist and for the last 25 years, has worked as a fisheries consultant for indigenous of Quebec as well as with Haiti and in Cameroun. He is currently the Fisheries Manager for Makivvik Corporation, an indigenous political organization representing the Inuit of Nunavik since 1978.

 

With interests in fisheries, the environment, real estate and tourism, Mr. Wright has broad, multi-faceted experience and specializes in working directly with Indigenous Peoples and their communities on developing capacity in fisheries and economic development.
